Ambrel Lake Park winter trail maintenance update

The City of Wrenford's Roads & Winter Maintenance crews have begun grooming the winter trails at Ambrel Lake Park and the wider Tamsin River Trail System as of Monday, December 29, 2025. Residents looking to ski, run, or walk on packed snow can now enjoy the cleared paths along the south-east shore of Ambrel Lake.

The grooming operation covers the 64-kilometre trail network that connects Riverside Flats Park, Ambrel Lake Park, and Benchlands Lookout Park. Crews use tracked snowmobiles to pack and groom the snow twice a week during daylight hours. The trails are open to pedestrians, runners, and cross-country skiers. Please stay on the marked paths to protect the sensitive shoreline habitat and avoid disturbing wildlife.

The Tamsin River Trail System is a shared-use path. Please walk on the left side when heading north, and keep your dog on a leash to protect local wildlife. Trail conditions can change quickly after storms or warm spells. We encourage you to check our online trail map before heading out so you can plan your route safely.

If you notice a trail closure, a washed-out section, or a tree branch blocking the path, please report it online or call 311. Our crews respond quickly to keep the routes safe for everyone. You can also request a snow route parking ban exemption if you live near the trailheads and need clear access to your driveway.

"We work hard to keep the trail surface smooth and safe, especially after heavy snow or freeze-thaw cycles," says James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. "A little bit of care from everyone goes a long way. Please keep to the trail, watch for other users, and give skiers a wide berth."
