Ambrel Lake Park trails reopen after winter maintenance

The trails at Ambrel Lake Park are open for use again. City of Wrenford crews finished clearing snow and ice from the path on March 14, making it safe for walkers, runners and cyclists to enjoy the spring weather.

Winter maintenance crews worked through the season to keep the trail clear. The park is located at 1350 Ambrel Lake Road, and the trailhead connects to the 64-kilometre Tamsin River Trail System. Other trailheads at Riverside Flats Park and Benchlands Lookout Park are also ready for the season.

As temperatures rise, residents should be careful of wet snow, melting ice and mud on the trails. If you see standing water, remaining ice patches or potholes along the nearby roads, please report them so crews can fix them quickly. You can use the online tool to report a pothole or check the Roads & Winter Maintenance page for more information on how the City keeps roads and trails safe.

"We have been working through the cold months to keep these paths safe, and it is great to see residents out enjoying the spring weather," said James Whitford, Roads Superintendent.

Looking ahead, the City will start its spring street sweeping program on April 20. Crews will drive through neighbourhoods over the next few weeks to wash away the sand and grit used during winter. Keeping the streets clean protects our storm drains and makes the roads safer for everyone. Please try to park on a different street or in a driveway when you see the sweeping signs. This helps the crews work faster and clean the whole road.
