Youth council hosts winter reading challenge at main library

The Wrenford Youth Council is teaming up with the main library branch to launch a free winter reading challenge for all ages. Starting today at the Wrenford Public Library — Main Branch, residents can pick up a challenge card and track their reading progress through February.

The challenge is open to everyone, from elementary students to adults. Participants read books, magazines, or audiobooks and log the hours at the library desk. When you reach your goal, you can choose from a selection of prizes donated by local businesses. The library will also host two drop-in story times each week where kids and their families can read together and share favourites.

"Reading is one of the best ways to stay active and connected during the colder months," says Caroline Dubé, Recreation Programs Coordinator. "We want to make sure young people and their families have a fun, free place to go that keeps them engaged and learning all winter long."

The reading challenge is designed to bring the community together across generations. Older residents are welcome to join the challenge or simply stop by to help younger readers with their books. If you are looking for ways to stay active and social during the cold weather, check out the Seniors section for tips on staying healthy and connected. You can also find information about Winter for older adults and Seniors recreation opportunities to plan your own winter activities.

Visit the library desk or browse the Library page for the full list of reading goals, drop-in times, and prize details.
