Wrenford water crews will begin flushing water mains in the east end on Thursday, December 15, 2024. The work is part of the city's annual maintenance programme to keep the drinking water safe and clean.
Flushing involves moving water through the pipes at high speed to remove mineral deposits and sediment. You may notice your water looks cloudy or brown during the work. This is harmless but can stain laundry.
If your water looks discolored, run the cold water tap at the highest point in your home for up to 20 minutes or until it runs clear. Avoid running the washing machine or dishwasher while the water is cloudy.
"We appreciate your patience while we complete this important work," says Patrick Nguyen, Water Operations Manager. "Flushing our pipes is a simple but necessary step to protect your water quality and keep the system running smoothly."
Flushing will cover the Eastfield, Tamarack, and Industrial Park East neighbourhoods over the next three weeks. Crews will work along Corvid Way, Eastfield Road, and the surrounding residential streets. Flushing may cause a temporary drop in water pressure. If you experience a prolonged issue, or if you have questions, call Service Wrenford 311 or 519-555-0100. You can also report a suspected leak or break through the city website.
