Wrenford sewer rates and fees update for 2025 proposed

The City of Wrenford is proposing updates to its water and sewer rates for 2025. City staff will present the proposed changes to Council at the December 2, 2024 meeting in the Council Chambers at Wrenford City Hall. The changes are designed to keep our water system safe and reliable while managing rising maintenance costs.

Under the proposed 2025 fee updates, the wastewater rate would increase from $1.95 per cubic metre to $2.05 per cubic metre. The fixed monthly fee for water and sewer services would rise from $45.00 to $47.50 per month. The late payment penalty would remain at five per cent. These adjustments will take effect on January 1, 2025, if approved by Council.

The additional revenue will support critical upgrades to the water treatment plant and ongoing improvements to the Wrenford Stormwater Management Strategy. The City is also maintaining its tiered water usage rates. The base rate of $1.85 per cubic metre for the first 100 cubic metres will stay the same, and the higher tier rate of $2.65 per cubic metre will continue to encourage conservation.

“We are committed to keeping utility bills as stable as possible for residents while ensuring the City can invest in the infrastructure that delivers clean water and removes wastewater safely,” said Patrick Nguyen, Water Operations Manager. “These modest adjustments allow us to upgrade treatment equipment ahead of schedule, which protects our system from future repair costs.”

Residents can review the full rate proposal on the City’s website. You can submit your feedback by emailing Water & Wastewater by December 9, 2024. If you have questions about how these changes affect your monthly bill, please visit our bill guide.

Council will vote on the final rates at the January 13, 2025 meeting.
