Wrenford releases 2023 audited financial statements

The City of Wrenford is releasing the 2023 audited financial statements today. Council reviewed the final year-end results on April 10, and we are sharing the full report with residents now.

Independent auditors gave the City a clean audit opinion, meaning the financial records are accurate and follow provincial standards. Wrenford finished 2023 with a $3.4 million operating surplus. This extra money came from slightly lower-than-expected spending on road repairs and a small increase in utility fees.

"The clean audit confirms that we are managing public funds carefully and delivering the services you need," says City Treasurer Leah Thibodeau. "This surplus will go straight back into our reserves to keep property taxes stable and help fund future projects like the Wildrye Connector Pathway."

The audited statements show how the City spent your tax dollars on essential services like garbage collection, winter road maintenance, and water treatment. The City also maintained its operating budget within 2 per cent of what was approved earlier in the year. This close alignment shows that our planning teams are forecasting costs accurately.
