City of Wrenford water crews will begin spring flushing in the west end on March 25. The work will cover the Benchlands, Westbrook, Larch Heights, and Hollis Park neighbourhoods over the next two weeks. Flushing is a regular part of our maintenance schedule to keep water flowing clearly and to check the health of the underground pipes.
During flushing, crews open special valves along the street to push water through the system at a higher speed. This clears out built-up sediment and makes sure water quality meets all provincial standards. You may notice a little discolouration or see air bubbles in your taps. This is normal and will clear quickly.
If your water looks cloudy or brown after a crew works near your home, simply run the cold water tap for a few minutes until it runs clear. Do not run hot water during flushing, as sediment can get into your hot water tank. If you need to do laundry or the dishwasher, wait until the water runs clear. You can also call us at 519-555-0100 if you have questions or notice water not returning.
"Flushing helps us maintain strong water pressure and protects the quality of your drinking water," says Patrick Nguyen, Water Operations Manager. "We know it can be an inconvenience when crews are working on your street, but it is a quick fix for long-term system health."
