Waste collection frequency changes for November winter season

Starting Monday, November 4, 2024, Wrenford waste crews will transition to the winter collection schedule. This seasonal change means your green bin will switch from weekly to every-other-week collection. The change is normal and helps our crews manage heavier snow and ice conditions later in the year. Regular weekly collection will return in April 2025.

Yard waste collection is also ending for the season. The East Wrenford Waste Management Facility will close its seasonal drop-off hours at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 1. After that date, leaves and small branches must go into your green bin or paper yard-waste bags. Remember to empty leaves out of plastic bags before you drop them off at the depot. The facility will remain open year-round for garbage and recycling, but will follow winter hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday.

If you are planning a big cleanup, make sure your green bin is empty by 7:00 a.m. on your regular collection day. You can still put paper yard-waste bags out until the end of November, as long as they are full and ready for pickup. For the full schedule, check the collection schedule online or use the Wrenford Waste Watch text alerts.

"We want to make sure your green bin is ready for the heavier snow and ice that usually arrive in December," says Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. "Keeping your bin on the curb by 7:00 a.m. helps our crews keep the routes moving safely through the winter."

You can also drop off yard waste in your green bin year-round. If you have questions about the winter schedule or need a new cart, contact the City Services team at 519-555-0100 or visit Garbage & Recycling.
