Traffic signal maintenance scheduled at key intersections

Starting February 5, 2024, Roads & Winter Maintenance crews will begin upgrading traffic signals at key intersections across Wrenford. The project will run through February 15 and focuses on downtown and major arterial roads.

Crews will replace aging communication cables, update timing software, and test pedestrian push-button units. Work will happen overnight from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. to keep traffic moving. The project covers intersections at Mercer and Tamsin Streets, Benchlands Drive and Corvid Way, and Northgate Boulevard and Eastfield Road. You may notice flashing yellow lights or flaggers on duty during the overnight work.

"These upgrades will make our intersections safer and more efficient for everyone," says Samuel Adeyemi, general manager of infrastructure and planning. "We are investing in the backbone of our street network so you can count on reliable signals for years to come."

Drivers should expect slower traffic near work zones and follow all flagger instructions. Pedestrians should use nearby crosswalks if a signal is offline. Residents can report issues or ask questions through the online service request tool or by calling 311 inside city limits.
