Tamsin River Run event returns July 13 with water safety reminders

The City of Wrenford is proud to welcome back the Tamsin River Run on Saturday, July 13. This popular community event will take place along the Tamsin River Trail, drawing runners and walkers of all ages to celebrate our city’s namesake waterway.

While the Tamsin River is a beautiful place to exercise, water levels and currents can change quickly, especially after heavy rain. “If we notice high water or poor quality, we post updates right away so you can plan accordingly,” says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “Our crews are working hard to keep the trail clear and the water source protected for everyone to enjoy.” Participants and spectators should stay on marked trails and avoid entering the water. Fast-moving currents can sweep people off their feet, and submerged rocks or debris can cause serious injuries. Parents, please keep a close eye on children near the riverbanks, as the edges can be slippery and unstable.

Runners should bring their own water to stay hydrated, and spectators are asked to pack out all litter. The City’s Water & Wastewater department monitors the river regularly to ensure it meets provincial safety standards. If you notice discoloured water, unusual odours, or any spills along the trail, report them immediately to 311 or through the Service Wrenford portal.
