Old Mill Museum launches winter exhibition on railway history

Wrenford, ON — The Old Mill Museum & Archives is opening its doors to a new winter exhibition on Friday, December 6, 2024. Titled Railways of Wrenford: Connecting Our Past, the exhibition explores how the arrival of the railway in 1859 helped turn a quiet mill town into the city we know today.

When you visit at 12 Mill Street, you will see historic photographs, detailed locomotive models, and oral history recordings from long-time residents. You will learn how the original rail lines shaped the downtown grid, brought new businesses to the area, and connected Wrenford to markets across the province.

"We are thrilled to bring this piece of our shared history to life for everyone to enjoy," said Gwen Lachance, Heritage & Archives Coordinator. "The railway is a huge part of what makes Wrenford unique, and we want to make sure the next generation understands how it built our city."

You can visit the exhibition Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free. The building is fully accessible, with an entrance on Water Street. You can call 519-555-0133 or email [email protected] to book a guided tour for your school group.
