Northgate Drop-off Depot extends hazardous waste hours for spring

Starting this spring, the Northgate Drop-off Depot will stay open longer on Saturdays. The new hours let you bring household hazardous waste to the depot until 5:00 p.m. instead of 4:00 p.m. You can drop off paints, solvents, automotive fluids, batteries, pesticides, propane tanks, fluorescent bulbs, and thermometers. This service is free for all Wrenford residents.

The depot is located at 1010 Northgate Boulevard, Wrenford, ON N4Q 4B8. It is open Wednesday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the spring season. You can also visit the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility on Saturdays from May to October for the same free drop-off service.

Please follow a few simple rules to keep your drop-off safe. Bring materials in their original containers. Make sure lids are tight and containers are leak-proof. Keep cans and bottles upright in your vehicle. Never mix different chemicals together. If you have a large amount of waste, call the City at 519-555-0100 first so we can plan for it.

“Spring is a busy time for garage clean-outs,” says Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. “We want to make sure you have enough time to drop off these materials safely without worrying about closing time. Our team is ready to help you get rid of them the right way.”

Remember to wear gloves and carry items carefully into the drop-off area. Staff are on hand to guide you to the correct bins. Once you finish, you can recycle your empty containers at the depot or take them home for proper disposal.
