The Wrenford Public Library’s Northgate Branch is reopening its doors on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 900 Northgate Boulevard, following a summer renovation project designed to improve accessibility and modernize the reading spaces. The branch was temporarily closed from June through September so contractors could upgrade the facility without disrupting library programs.
The renovation focused on making the space more welcoming and easier to navigate for all visitors. New features include wider doorways and accessible public service counters that meet provincial accessibility standards, improved lighting throughout the reading areas, and updated wayfinding signage. The waiting area has been refreshed with comfortable seating and power outlets for visitors using their own devices.
Library staff have returned to their regular posts at the branch and are ready to assist patrons with all library services. You can visit the Northgate Branch to borrow books, use public computers, reserve a meeting room, or attend upcoming youth and adult programs. The library also continues its popular digital services, including the digital library card application and the Books on the Bus partnership with Wrenford Transit.
"The Northgate Branch has been a vital part of the community for years, and we are thrilled to welcome residents back into a brighter, more accessible space," said Tara Sandhu, Library CEO. "The upgrades we made this summer will make it easier for everyone to enjoy the resources and programs we offer."
During the closure, the library moved its temporary collections and some program activities to the Wrenford Public Library — Main Branch. If you need to access library materials or attend a class while the Northgate Branch reopens, you can find full details on the Library page.
