Northgate Aquatic Centre reopens following summer renovations

The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce that the Northgate Aquatic Centre at 910 Northgate Boulevard will reopen to the public on Monday, July 8, 2024. The facility closed earlier this summer to complete essential repairs to the pool hall roof and upgrade the waterslide safety systems.

Crews worked through the July heat to replace aging roofing materials, improve drainage around the pool deck, and install new safety netting above the dive tank. All work was inspected and cleared by the Chief Building Officer before the reopening date.

With the doors open again, all regular aquatic programs return. This includes daily public swim, length swim lanes, aquafit classes, and our popular Swim for Life swimming lessons. The sauna and family waterslide are also ready for use.

"We know many families planned their summer around this centre, and we appreciate your patience while we made these necessary upgrades," said Fiona Gallagher, GM Community Services. "Our staff are excited to welcome swimmers back, and we want to thank our construction crews for working hard to keep this facility safe and comfortable for everyone."

You can register for upcoming programs online through the recreation portal. If you are planning a visit, check the daily public swim schedule and facility hours before you go. During the final cleanup days, some deck areas may have temporary signage, but all pool entries remain fully accessible.
