The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce that the rebuilt Northgate Aquatic Centre is officially open for lap swimming, public swim sessions, and registration for fall swim lessons and aquatics programmes starting today, May 25, 2024. Located at 910 Northgate Boulevard in the Northgate neighbourhood, the newly renovated facility replaces the previous site and brings modern aquatic amenities back to the community. Residents interested in exploring other local resources can find details on the Neighbourhoods page.
The centre features a 50-metre lap pool, a dive tank, and a waterslide. Operating hours are Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Residents in the Northgate neighbourhood and throughout Wrenford can now enjoy length swimming, drop-in public swim, and aquafit classes. The facility also serves as the registration hub for the upcoming fall and winter aquatic programmes.
“The completion of the Northgate Aquatic Centre marks a significant milestone for our recreation services,” said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “We are grateful to the construction teams and residents who supported us through the rebuild. This centre will continue to be a safe, welcoming place for families, competitive swimmers, and fitness enthusiasts alike.”
Residents can visit the front desk during operating hours to pick up a registration package, or register online through the Access community recreation programs. New swimmers are encouraged to book a placement test for swim lessons before the season begins. For those looking to maintain their fitness, open lap swim sessions run daily, and lane reservations for serious distance swimmers can be arranged through the facility desk.
