Northgate Aquatic Centre closes Sept 9 for winterization

The Northgate Aquatic Centre at 910 Northgate Boulevard will close on Monday, September 9, 2024, for its annual winterization and maintenance shutdown. The facility is scheduled to reopen on Monday, September 30, 2024.

During the closure, the 50-metre pool, dive tank, and waterslide will be drained and treated. Staff will perform equipment checks, filter replacements, and surface repairs to ensure a safe environment for the winter season. The weight room and group fitness studios will also be offline for routine servicing.

Residents who want to swim or use the fitness areas should visit the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre on Benchlands Drive or the Westbrook Community Arena during the shutdown. Both locations remain open with regular hours. If you hold a Recreation Value Pass, your membership will automatically cover access to these alternate sites. You can also visit the Service Wrenford counter at City Hall to place a temporary hold on your pass or request a proration. Please bring your pass card and a photo identification.

"Annual maintenance is essential for keeping our aquatic facilities running smoothly and safely," says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "We appreciate residents using the other city pools and arenas while we complete these upgrades."
