Northgate Aquatic Centre to close June 20 for planned renewal

The City of Wrenford will close the Northgate Aquatic Centre on June 20, 2024, for a planned renewal project. The facility at 910 Northgate Boulevard will be closed for several weeks while crews upgrade the main pool and refresh the changing rooms.

During the closure, the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre will continue to offer lane swimming, leisure swimming, and drop-in fitness classes. Residents who rely on the aquatic centre for their regular swim schedule can visit the main branch on Benchlands Drive. The outdoor pool at Kingfisher Outdoor Pool will open for the summer season on July 1, and the splash pad at Wildrye Splash Pad will also be ready by then.

Some scheduled lessons and day camp programmes that use the aquatic centre may be moved or adjusted. Families registered for summer programmes will receive a notification by email with the updated schedule. If you need to change your registration, visit the Service Wrenford counter at City Hall or call the facility.

Fiona Gallagher, general manager of community services, says the renewal work is necessary to keep the centre safe and comfortable for everyone. "This is a chance for us to refresh the space so it serves our community well for years to come," Gallagher said.

Check the facility information and hours page for the exact reopening date and any changes to drop-in swim times. If you have questions about the closure, call the Northgate Aquatic Centre at 519-555-0121 or email [email protected].

The City thanks residents for their patience while the work is completed. For the latest updates on recreation facilities, visit the News & Events page.
