Join us for a family-friendly way to celebrate the start of the year. Wrenford Recreation is offering free public skating at Westbrook Community Arena on January 1, 2025, from noon to 4:00 p.m. The event is open to all ages and does not require registration.
Westbrook Community Arena features two ice pads, and both will be open for this special session. The ice will be resurfaced between noon and 2:00 p.m. to ensure a smooth surface for everyone. General admission is free, and there are no skate rental fees for this event. Skate guards are required for all participants.
"We want to make sure families have a fun and accessible way to kick off the new year together," says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "Free skating is a great way to stay active in the winter and get everyone on the ice."
While helmets are not mandatory for the free session, we strongly recommend them for children and first-time skaters. Helmets must meet Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standards. If you need equipment, skate rentals are available at the arena desk on a first-come, first-served basis.
For regular skating times and other seasonal programs, visit the public skating schedule. If you plan to attend and want to guarantee your size, you can pre-book skate rentals online or by calling the arena at 519-555-0122. Please note that all facilities follow the standard holiday operating hours, which may differ from regular weekday times.
