Larch Heights Golf Course closes November 25 for winter storage

The Larch Heights Golf Course at 2100 Wrenford Line will close for the winter season on Sunday, November 25, 2024. The course will remain closed through the cold months while staff complete winter storage and turf maintenance. It will reopen for the 2025 season in the spring.

Closing the course allows grounds crews to aerate the fairways, repair irrigation lines, and safely store mowers and other equipment. The 18-hole municipal course and its clubhouse will be locked and unheated until spring. Please stay off the greens and fairways during the closure so the turf can recover and you can avoid slipping on frozen grass.

If you enjoy playing golf in the winter months, keep an eye on the Programs page for updates on indoor fitness and active living options available at the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre or the Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre. You can also check the Check holiday service hours page for any changes to winter operating hours for city facilities.

“Closing the course is a necessary step to protect the playing surface and ensure the grounds are in top shape for next year,” says Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. “We use this time to fix drainage, reseed, and service our equipment so we can open smoothly when the weather warms up.”
