Wrenford — The City of Wrenford has delayed the opening of the Kingfisher Outdoor Pool until June 15, 2024. This change is due to an unusually cool and wet spring, which has kept water temperatures low and delayed critical maintenance work.
Outdoor pools need more than ten consecutive days of dry weather above ten degrees Celsius to fill, test, and balance the water safely. Crews have been waiting for a stretch of stable weather to complete safety inspections, mechanical testing, and chemical treatments. Opening the pool too early could damage the equipment and affect water quality.
"We know you are eager to get outside and enjoy the warmer weather," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "Taking a few extra days ensures the water is safe, the equipment is running smoothly, and we are ready for a full summer season."
When the pool opens on June 15, it will operate from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. You can pay admission fees and buy season passes at the front desk or online. Drop-in sessions will be available, but we recommend registering early to guarantee a spot during peak afternoon hours. The splash pad at Wildrye Splash Pad will also open on June 15, subject to weather conditions.
For the full list of aquatic programme dates, registration links, and fee waivers, visit our Recreation & Culture page. If you need to report a missed pickup or check for holiday schedule changes during the opening week, see our Check holiday service hours guide. You can also find full operating details and photos of the facility on the Kingfisher Outdoor Pool page. For general questions, visit Contact.
The City will post updates on the Wrenford 311 portal and its social media channels if weather conditions require further changes. Thank you for your patience as we prepare for a safe and fun summer.
