Kingfisher Outdoor Pool construction begins June 3

Construction work to upgrade the Kingfisher Outdoor Pool and splash pad begins on June 3, 2024, at 15 Kingfisher Court. The project will replace the aging pool structure, install a new splash pad, and add accessible ramps and change rooms.

The City is carrying out these improvements under a development permit issued through our Development Applications portal. The permit ensures the site follows all zoning, environmental, and safety rules while keeping the pool open for the 2024 season. Crews will work Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with some weekend work for heavy equipment delivery.

“We are investing in this facility because it is a beloved gathering place for the Kingfisher neighbourhood,” said Samuel Adeyemi, GM Infrastructure and Planning. “By replacing the old infrastructure now, we can ensure the pool and splash pad meet modern accessibility and safety standards for years to come.”

During the first few weeks, expect increased truck traffic along Kingfisher Court and some temporary lane closures on the service road behind the facility. The City has asked the contractor to keep the main entrance open for residents and to maintain a safe walkway for families using the adjacent playground.

If you want to see the approved site plans or check the status of the permit, visit our Find a planning application page. You can also follow the project through our Development Applications dashboard, where we post weekly updates on major park upgrades.

The splash pad will open for the summer on July 1, and the main pool will reopen on July 15. Both will remain open through Labour Day, weather permitting. For full operating hours, drop-in fees, and swim lesson schedules, visit our Facilities page.
