Kingfisher Outdoor Pool begins operations with new swim lessons

WRENFORD, Ontario — June 15, 2024 — Wrenford’s recreation staff will open the Kingfisher Outdoor Pool on Friday, June 28, 2024, for the annual summer season. Located at 15 Kingfisher Court, the pool will operate from late June to Labour Day. Along with regular public swim times, the City is launching the Summer Splash Swim Lessons programme, offering group classes for all ages and skill levels.

Registration for swim lessons opened on Monday, March 4, 2024. Classes cost $35.00 per session, and fee waivers are available through the Recreation Fee Assistance programme. The facility also features a splash pad for younger children. Lifeguards will be on duty from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day. Visitors should check the drop-in schedule online before arriving, as spaces fill quickly during peak hours.

This season’s programming is supported by a $340,000 allocation in the 2024 operating budget. The funding covers lifeguard wages, water quality testing, and equipment maintenance for all city-operated outdoor pools. City Manager Robert Eng and the finance team prioritized aquatic services to keep costs predictable for residents while meeting provincial safety standards. You can see how this funding fits into the wider city budget on the budget engagement page.

“Investing in our outdoor pools gives families a safe, affordable place to stay cool and active all summer,” said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “We worked closely with the finance team to keep lesson fees low while ensuring every pool meets the highest health and safety rules.”
