Harvest on Mercer festival returns September 21, 2024

Harvest on Mercer returns to downtown Mercer Street on September 21, 2024. Hosted by the City's Recreation & Culture department in partnership with the Downtown Wrenford BIA, the festival celebrates the season with live music, local food, crafts, and activities for all ages.

The day kicks off at 10:00 a.m. with a street festival atmosphere along the closed-off block between Albert and Victoria Streets. Local artists will demonstrate their work, and kids can join in seasonal craft stations. The stage at Market Square will host bluegrass and folk performers from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with three sets throughout the day. Visitors can also explore a newly designed community art maze and visit the Heritage Corner, where the Old Mill Museum & Archives will share historical photos and interactive displays about the falls and the early grist mill.

A selection of local food trucks and pop-up vendors will serve autumn snacks and drinks. The City will also run a waste education booth, showing residents how to separate Green Bin and Blue Box materials correctly. Families can rest at the shaded seating areas or join a free guided walk of the nearby Tamsin River Trail System starting at 1:00 p.m.

“Harvest on Mercer is a chance for neighbours to come together and enjoy the best of our downtown,” says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “We have added more accessible seating, wider pathways, and quiet zones this year to make sure everyone can enjoy the festivities comfortably.”

Admission is free, and the street will be closed to vehicle traffic from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Residents are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles and bags.
