The City of Wrenford recently supported Harvest on Mercer, a free downtown festival celebrating local agriculture and food. Held on Mercer Street, the event brought together residents, local farmers and small food producers for a day of fresh markets, hands-on workshops and live entertainment.
Organized by the Downtown Wrenford Business Improvement Area with City staff, the festival featured farm stands, cooking demonstrations and a marketplace for small food producers. Families took part in seed-saving workshops, learned about seasonal growing and visited local agricultural groups. Live music and children’s activities filled the closed street throughout the day.
“We are happy to see Mercer Street come alive with local talent and homegrown food,” said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “Festivals like this are a big part of what makes our city a great place to live. They bring neighbours together and keep our downtown centres busy and vibrant.”
If you are a local grower or food maker interested in setting up a booth next year, the City encourages you to reach out to the Downtown Wrenford BIA to register early. Residents can also help keep the street clean by using the provided waste and recycling bins and reporting any issues to 311.
