Fire hydrant flushing begins in Ambrel Lake neighbourhood

The City of Wrenford is beginning its annual fire hydrant flushing program in the Ambrel Lake neighbourhood. Crews will start work on Monday, April 15, and will continue through the coming weeks. This routine maintenance keeps the water distribution pipes clean and maintains strong water pressure for homes and businesses.

Fire Rescue and Water & Wastewater staff will open and flush fire hydrants throughout the area. Flushing will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. during daylight hours. You may notice a temporary drop in water pressure or see cloudy, dirty water if you use water while the crew is working on your street. This is normal and harmless. The water is safe to drink. If you notice discoloured water, run a cold water tap for five to ten minutes until it runs clear.

"Flushing hydrants is a key part of keeping our water system healthy and ready for emergencies," says Patrick Nguyen, Water Operations Manager. "We appreciate your patience while we complete this work in the neighbourhood."

The City will notify residents when the flushing program moves to other neighbourhoods. To stay up to date on crew schedules and other service updates, sign up for emergency alerts through the City's notification system.

If you have questions about the flushing program or need to report a water issue, contact City Services at 519-555-0100. You can also visit Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
