Fire department conducts training exercise at Eastfield Arenas

Wrenford Fire Rescue is holding a joint training exercise at Eastfield Twin Arenas on Saturday, August 17. The drill will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and involves fire crews, paramedics, and by-law officers working together to simulate a large-scale emergency. We want you to know what to expect so you can plan your day.

During the exercise, multiple emergency vehicles and specialty units will be on site at 620 Eastfield Road, Wrenford, ON N4Q 5J2. Firefighters will practice building evacuations, search and rescue techniques, and hazardous materials containment. The Wrenford Paramedic Services will also be on hand to coordinate medical triage scenarios. You may notice sirens and radio traffic as teams communicate.

"These exercises ensure our crews are prepared for the most complex emergencies our community might face," says Simon Hartley, Deputy Fire Chief. "By working closely with our partners, we can improve our response times and keep everyone safe when it matters most."

Residents and visitors in the neighbourhood should expect an increased presence of emergency vehicles and personnel. The drill takes place in a controlled environment and does not pose any danger to you. Emergency workers will be focused on the exercise and will not respond to non-emergency calls from the drill site. If you hear loud noises or see emergency vehicles moving through the area, please stay calm. This is a scheduled training event.
