Applications for guided tours at the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility are now open for the April to October operating season. The tours are available to school groups, youth clubs, and community organisations who want to see how Wrenford manages its waste, recycling, and organics.
During the visit, a staff member will walk your group through the drop-off depot, sorting areas, and the landfill. You will learn how residents separate materials, what happens to items that cannot be recycled, and how the city works toward its waste diversion goals. The facility is located at 3500 Concession 4 Road.
Because the site is an active industrial work zone, all participants must wear closed-toe shoes. The city can host up to two classes per day, with a maximum of thirty students per group. If your group cannot make it, please give five business days notice so the slot can be offered to another group.
"These tours are a great way for young people to see where their materials go and understand the importance of sorting correctly at home," says Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. "We encourage schools and clubs to book early, as spots fill up quickly during the spring and summer months."
To book a tour, please fill out the tour application form or contact the Waste Wise team at [email protected]. Tours are free of charge and take place during regular facility hours, Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
