Construction for the second phase of the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility expansion starts Monday, September 16. The project will add a new landfill cell and upgrade the drop-off depot at 3500 Concession 4 Road.
Roads & Winter Maintenance crews will work alongside contractors to manage the increased heavy truck traffic. You can expect temporary lane shifts and reduced speed limits on Concession 4 Road between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. until the work wraps up in spring.
"We are working closely with the Roads & Winter Maintenance team to keep the route safe for residents and workers alike," says Samuel Adeyemi, General Manager of Infrastructure and Planning. "These upgrades are a vital step in supporting the city's waste diversion goals for the next decade."
Residents who use the drop-off depot should allow extra travel time. The facility will stay open during the construction phase, though operating hours may shift slightly. The city will post daily updates on the Service Alerts page.
The expansion project is on track to help the city meet its Zero waste initiatives and goals target of diverting 60 per cent of waste by 2030. For more information on waste collection schedules and drop-off depot rules, visit Garbage & Recycling.
