On February 7, 2024, Wrenford City Council approved updated development cost charges that will apply to new building permits issued in 2025. These charges help pay for the infrastructure and community amenities you need in growing neighbourhoods.
Development cost charges are collected when you or a builder apply for a new building permit. The money goes directly toward projects that make your new neighbourhoods work, such as water and wastewater upgrades, road improvements, parks, and community centres. The updated rates will fund priority projects in areas like Wildrye, Northgate, and the Corvid Creek Ravine pathway extension.
“As Wrenford continues to welcome new residents and businesses, it is important that growth is matched by investments in the facilities and services people rely on every day,” said City Manager Robert Eng. “These updates ensure that new developments contribute fairly to the city’s growth while providing predictable funding for long-term planning.”
The updated framework standardizes how these charges are collected across the city. By moving to a more consistent system, the City reduces reliance on project-by-project negotiations and makes it easier for you and other developers to plan your projects.
The updated rates are listed in the Fees and Charges By-law. You can check the new rates and see how they apply to your specific projects through the Development Applications section.
