City of Wrenford crews will begin overnight snow clearing on downtown streets this evening, December 3, 2024. The initial sweep covers the main downtown grid, including Mercer, Tamsin, Mill, and Water Streets, as well as the surrounding arterials near the hospital and along Fallsview Road. Clearing will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. nightly.
Parking restrictions are already in place under the Winter Maintenance and Parking By-law 2020-097. If you plan to leave your vehicle on a downtown street, please move it before 2:00 a.m. Crews will place no-parking sandwich boards and signs on the curb in advance of clearing. Vehicles left on the street after the posted ban time will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense under the Highway Traffic Act. Please watch for the signs and plan your commute or evening activities accordingly.
"Getting the downtown core cleared early in the season is critical for keeping businesses open and our trails accessible," said James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. "We ask residents to be patient with the overnight schedule and to keep their cars off the streets so our trucks can work safely through the night. "
