On June 10, 2024, Wrenford City Council gave final approval to a zoning amendment for 100 Mill Street. The change updates the site from a single-industrial zone to a mixed-use district, allowing the property to host ground-floor retail and office space alongside apartments above.
The amendment aligns with the City of Wrenford Official Plan and supports the downtown revitalization goals outlined in the Zoning By-law 2016-040. The new rules will let the site build up to four storeys while keeping the original building footprint intact. Developers must still follow standard building and safety codes before breaking ground.
“By updating the zoning for 100 Mill Street, we are making it easier to bring mixed-use projects to life in our core,” said Samuel Adeyemi, General Manager of Infrastructure and Planning. “This keeps our downtown active, supports local businesses, and adds housing right where residents need it most.”
The City will now move to the next steps in the planning process. The developer must submit a site plan control application to ensure all outdoor spaces, parking, and landscaping meet City standards. Once the site plan is approved, a building permit application can be filed with the Building Permits team.
Residents who want to see the full council report or track the application can visit the Development Applications page. Any changes to the site will be reviewed under the Planning Act and the City’s standard review timelines.
