The City of Wrenford has approved a rezoning application to build 120 new rental homes on a 2.5-hectare site on Eastfield Road. City Council made the decision on January 18, 2024, after reviewing the proposal and hearing public feedback.
The new development will include a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartment buildings ranging from four to six storeys. The project also sets aside land for a small neighbourhood park and adds a dedicated walking path that connects to the main Tamsin River Trail System. All buildings will meet the City's energy efficiency and accessibility standards. The design respects the surrounding residential streets by using brick and stone finishes and keeping setbacks consistent with nearby homes.
"This project adds much-needed homes to our city while respecting the character of our neighbourhoods," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "Growing our rental supply gives more people the chance to live and work here, and it helps keep housing affordable for the long term."
