City announces 2024 outdoor pool opening dates

Wrenford's outdoor water amenities are set to open for the 2024 season, giving residents a chance to cool off during the warmer months. The City has released the official opening dates for the season, along with details on programming and registration.

The Kingfisher Outdoor Pool will open for the season on Friday, June 21. The pool will operate daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. through Labour Day. The Wildrye Splash Pad at Wildrye Park will follow shortly after, opening on Friday, June 28, from noon to 7:00 p.m. daily.

All outdoor amenities are weather dependent. Opening dates may shift slightly if temperatures drop or if heavy rain affects water quality. The City will post any updates to opening times or temporary closures on the Service Alerts page and through Wrenford 311.

"We have a full season of water fun planned for residents of all ages," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "From beginner swim lessons to drop-in leisure swims, our outdoor facilities are designed to be a safe and welcoming space for families and individuals alike."

Programs and registration

Swimming lessons for all ages will be available at Kingfisher Outdoor Pool throughout the summer. Registration for swim lessons opens on Monday, March 18, 2024. Residents can also sign up for summer day camps and drop-in public swims using the same online portal.

General admission applies to all drop-in sessions. A daily pass is available at the gate, or residents can purchase a seasonal pass for unlimited access. Youth, students, and seniors with valid identification receive a discounted rate. Check the Facilities page for the full rate card and admission policies.
