The City of Wrenford invites you to join a volunteer planting day at Centennial Gardens on Saturday, April 27, to help refresh the downtown gardens for the spring season. You will meet at the main garden entrance at 5 Victoria Street at 9:00 a.m. to work alongside Parks & Trails staff and community volunteers.
You will help plant spring annuals, refresh mulch beds, and clear winter debris from the pathways near the cenotaph. The City will provide gloves, hand tools, and refreshments. If you have your own shovel, feel free to bring it. Please wear sturdy boots and dress for the weather.
“Centennial Gardens is the heart of our downtown core, and it takes a whole community to keep it looking its best,” says Fiona Gallagher, general manager of community services. “Whether you are a seasoned gardener or just want to lend a hand for an hour, you will be helping create a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy.”
You can bring your family to the volunteer day. The City will provide light breakfast snacks and water. If you are under the age of 16, you must be accompanied by an adult. After you finish planting, you can take a short guided walk through the gardens to learn about the historical layout and the plantings that have defined Centennial Gardens since the city’s centennial celebrations.
You can register online through Wrenford Recreation Online or call the main line at 519-555-0100. The City will also host similar planting events throughout the spring at other parks and natural areas.
