Centennial Gardens hosts annual community planting day July 6

The City of Wrenford is inviting you to help refresh the flower beds and plant new trees at Centennial Gardens on Saturday, July 6. The annual community planting day runs from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the downtown park, located at 5 Victoria Street.

Volunteers of all ages and skill levels are welcome. City crews will provide soil, plants, tools, and refreshments. You should wear closed-toe shoes and bring your own gloves if you have them. Light rain will not cancel the event, but please dress for the weather.

"This planting day is a great chance to connect with your neighbours and see Centennial Gardens in a whole new way," says Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "We grow these gardens with the community in mind, and it means a lot to have residents roll up their sleeves and help us care for them."

After the planting work is done, we will take a short walk-through of the garden layout and the new irrigation system. Families are encouraged to join. The City will also collect your feedback on upcoming park projects through a quick survey.

If you can help but cannot attend in person, you can still support the program. The City accepts donations of native plants and volunteer hours for future garden maintenance. You can drop off donations at the Centennial Gardens site between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekdays, or sign up to join a monthly care crew through the Parks & Trails team.

For more information on park events, volunteer opportunities, and how to report a maintenance issue, visit the Parks & Trails section of the City website.
