Canada Day in the Park celebrates with live music on July 1

The City of Wrenford is celebrating Canada Day in the Park at Centennial Gardens today, Monday, July 1. The event features a full day of live music, local food vendors and family-friendly activities along Victoria Street.

Doors open now at 10:00 a.m. in the park. The main stage at the cenotaph will host local musicians from 11:00 a.m. until the headlining band takes the stage at 2:00 p.m. We have also expanded the food court this year. You will find a wider selection of local vendors right across the lawn, so bring cash or a credit card.

Children can join the storytime and craft station near the formal gardens, and there will be face painting from noon to 4:00 p.m. The City's recreation team will be on site with a splash pad demo and information on summer day camp registration. Families are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets to claim a spot on the event lawn.

A new feature this year is the community picnic shelter rental programme. We have opened a limited number of shelters for advance booking so local groups can host their own small gatherings in the shade. Check the Parks & Trails page for more details on park shelters.

"We are so excited to bring everyone back together on the lawn to celebrate our country," said Events Coordinator Rosa Castellano. "There is something for every age group, and we want to make sure the gardens feel like a true community gathering space."

The celebration wraps up at 5:00 p.m. with a short flag-closing ceremony. There will be no fireworks this year, as we are focusing on a quiet, all-ages daytime event. Please get off at the Downtown Transit Terminal stop on Market Square, or park along the street and walk in. Street parking is available on Victoria and Mercer Streets.

If you are interested in booking a park shelter or joining a local group at a future event, look up the Book a park shelter or picnic site guide. For more information about all the programming the City offers this summer, visit the Programs page.
