The Benchlands Curling Club, located at 430 Benchlands Drive, is entering its annual off-season maintenance phase ahead of the traditional October opening. City facilities crews are working through September to make sure the building and ice surface are ready for the busy winter months.
Crews are resurfacing the ice, checking the refrigeration systems, and preparing the kitchen and seating areas. The club is a City-owned, club-operated facility that has served the community for decades. While the ice is not yet open for public use, staff are using this time to run safety checks on all equipment and update the scheduling software for the upcoming season.
The club is currently closed to the public for preparation. Bookings for public skating and drop-in sessions will resume in October. If you want to join a league or book time, you can visit the indoor arena booking page to view available slots and rental rates.
"We are working hard behind the scenes to make sure the ice is perfect and the clubhouse is ready for another fantastic season," said Fiona Gallagher, GM Community Services. "This preparation work allows us to keep our community facilities safe and welcoming for everyone.
Please note that holiday hours may apply once the season officially begins. You can check the holiday hours page for the full list of upcoming closures and adjusted schedules. For more information about all City-run and club-operated venues, visit the facility information and hours page.
