Autumn schedule changes take effect for all fixed-route bus services

Wrenford Transit is adjusting its fixed-route schedules this fall to improve travel times and match current demand. Starting Monday, September 9, all 14 fixed routes will operate on an autumn timetable that reflects updated travel patterns and recent infrastructure improvements across the city.

The changes focus on reducing wait times during peak commuting hours and adding a few extra trips on routes that have seen steady growth over the past year. Route 1 (Downtown to Ambrel Lake) and Route 2 (Benchlands to Riverside Flats) will see slightly earlier morning departures to help commuters beat the morning rush. Route 5 (Kingfisher to Larch Heights) and Route 12 (Wildrye to Benchlands) will gain extra midday trips to better serve residents heading to community centres and clinics.

Transit crews are also taking advantage of the new stop upgrades currently underway on Route 5 along Corvid Way and Route 12 along Ambrel Lake Road. Wider bays and extended shelters mean buses can pull in and out faster, which helps keep the whole route on time. If you are waiting for a bus on these corridors, you might notice crews making final adjustments to the pavement and signage over the next two weeks.

“We hear from riders that reliable timing matters just as much as frequent service,” said Daniel Osei, Transit Manager. “These autumn adjustments are our way of responding to that feedback and making sure every trip runs smoothly, whether you are heading to work, school, or the community centre.”

The new schedules will apply Monday through Friday. Weekends and statutory holidays will continue to follow the existing Sunday timetable, except for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day when service will not run. Wrenford Transit will also continue its regular 311 text-to-arrival service and push updates through Wrenford Transit Alerts if any unexpected delays or detours occur.
