Winter skating season begins November 9 at Eastfield

The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce that Eastfield Twin Arenas, located at 620 Eastfield Road, will open its ice pads for the winter skating season on November 9. Residents can head out to enjoy public skating sessions as soon as the rink doors open today.

City crews have been working through the past week to prepare the ice surface, plow snow from the surrounding areas, and set up seating. The two ice pads at the arena are now ready for drop-in skating, hockey practice, and ringette drills. Public skating sessions run daily throughout the winter, with a variety of times to fit busy schedules.

This season, the City is introducing new low-sensory skating sessions. These sessions feature reduced lighting, no background music, and a lower capacity to create a calmer environment for families and individuals who benefit from a quieter atmosphere. In addition, stick and puck sessions are available for those who want to practice their hockey skills in a relaxed setting, without formal coaching or competitive games.

"We are excited to welcome skaters back to the ice," said Caroline Dubé, Recreation Programs Coordinator. "Whether you are a seasoned skater or just learning to balance, our rinks are open for everyone. We encourage all visitors to wear helmets and dress warmly, as the outdoor seating areas can get quite cold."

Skaters should check the public skating schedule before visiting, as times and pad assignments can change based on league bookings and weather conditions. The City will continue to monitor ice quality and outdoor conditions. If temperatures rise or precipitation makes the ice unsafe, sessions may be postponed. Any changes will be posted on the City's recreation portal and shared through local community channels.

For those looking to book a specific time or reserve a slot for a group, the last-minute booking system is available online. You can also find information on equipment rentals, ice sharpening services, and seasonal passes on our Programs page.

We hope you enjoy the winter season and take advantage of the opportunities to stay active and have fun on the ice.
