Transit fare assistance program becomes permanent for Wrenford residents

Wrenford Transit is making its fare assistance program permanent, effective January 1, 2024. This decision ensures that eligible residents will continue to have reliable access to affordable public transportation across the city for years to come.

The Low-Income Transit Pass programme provides a reduced monthly fare for residents who meet specific income guidelines. Since the pilot program launched last year, the City has seen strong participation from commuters, students, and seniors who rely on Wrenford Transit to get to work, school, and appointments. The success of the pilot convinced Council to fund the program permanently in the upcoming budget cycle.

“Keeping Wrenford moving means making sure everyone can afford to ride,” said Fiona Gallagher, GM Community Services. “This program removes a barrier for our neighbours and helps connect our community to the jobs and services they need.”

Residents who believe they may qualify can apply for the Low-Income Transit Pass programme today. You will need to bring proof of income and a valid photo ID to your application. You can submit your paperwork in person at Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street, or download the application form from our website. If you need help filling out the form or would like to book a home visit, call the transit office at 519-555-0100.

Once your application is approved, you will receive your reduced fare pass within two business days. You can use this pass on all fixed routes, Wrenford Access, and the Wrenford Flex on-demand service.
