A heavy snow and ice storm is moving through Wrenford today, December 15, 2023. Our Roads & Winter Maintenance crews, along with emergency services, are working around the clock to keep our streets and trails safe for residents.
Main roads are being plowed as soon as snow reaches five centimetres. Residential streets will be cleared once the snow hits eight centimetres. Our crews are also treating roads with salt and sand to keep surfaces from becoming slick. Please remember that the overnight on-street parking ban is in effect from December 1 to March 31, between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. This rule gives our plows the space they need to clear every street safely. If you have a mobility condition, you can apply for a snow route parking ban exemption.
All municipal recreation facilities and outdoor rinks are closed until further notice. The Tamsin River Trail System and park trails are also closed due to ice and falling branches. Please stay off the trails until crews have cleared them.
"Our crews are working hard to keep Wrenford moving safely," says Samuel Adeyemi, our General Manager of Infrastructure and Planning. "We ask that everyone reduces their speed, leaves extra room between cars, and avoids unnecessary trips until the storm passes."
Keep garbage and recycling carts off the curb until the storm passes. Check on your neighbours, especially older adults. If you see a fallen tree or downed power line, stay back and call 911 or your utility provider. To report damage to City infrastructure, call 519-555-0111.
