Wrenford recreation facilities will operate on special hours from December 24 to January 1, 2024. This schedule applies to all city-run leisure centres, arenas, golf courses, museums, libraries, and parks.
Most aquatic and fitness facilities, including the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre, Northgate Aquatic Centre, and Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre, will close at 4:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve, December 24. All sites will remain closed on Christmas Day, December 25. Regular hours resume on December 26. New Year’s Eve, December 31, will see early closures at 4:00 p.m., followed by a full closure on January 1, 2024. Indoor arenas, including Westbrook Community Arena and Eastfield Twin Arenas, will follow the same early closure schedule on December 24 and 31. Larch Heights Golf Course and the Benchlands Curling Club will also close early on Christmas Eve and remain closed through the holiday weekend.
Cultural venues and libraries will adjust their schedules slightly. The Old Mill Museum & Archives, Fallsview Arts Centre, and Railside Gallery will be closed from December 24 through December 28. The Wrenford Public Library branches will close early on December 24, remain closed on December 25, and resume normal hours on December 29. Outdoor parks and trails will remain open, but washrooms and picnic shelters will be closed during the break.
If you need to book a facility or ice slot during the break, the online portal will remain open, but facility staff will not be available to process requests until January 2. “We want to make sure everyone can enjoy the holiday season with their families, so we ask that you plan your workouts and rink bookings ahead of time,” said Fiona Gallagher, general manager of community services. You can also call 311 to leave a voicemail for urgent inquiries.
