Wrenford Fire Rescue crews are conducting ice rescue training at Ambrel Lake Park from December 12 to December 18, 2023. During this period, firefighters will create and maintain open water pockets in the ice as part of their emergency response exercises.
Ice rescue is a critical skill that requires regular practice to ensure crews can respond safely and effectively to winter emergencies. The training involves specialized equipment and coordinated team movements, which means a portion of the park will be temporarily closed to the public.
For everyone's safety, please avoid the area and stay well back from the ice where you see barrier tape or warning signs. The training zone will be clearly marked to keep residents and visitors at a safe distance. If you are walking or skating near the lake, use caution and stick to established paths.
"We train for these conditions so that when an actual emergency happens, our crews are ready to act quickly and safely," said Deputy Fire Chief Simon Hartley. We appreciate the public's patience and cooperation while we keep our skills sharp. For more information on winter safety and emergency preparedness, visit Fire Rescue.
