Report missed garbage collection

Check why your garbage or green bin was not picked up and submit a service request if the collection crew missed your address.

Did we miss your garbage or green bin?

If your bins are still on the curb, you can check your scheduled collection date on the Garbage & Recycling page. If it was your regular collection day and the crew did not pick up your items, please follow the steps below.

1. Check for a yellow notice tag

Look at your garbage or green bin. If a yellow notice tag is attached, the collection crew left it to explain why your items were not picked up. Common reasons include:

  • Bin was not set out by 7:30 a.m. on collection day.
  • Bags weigh more than 18 kg or are not in large, non-transparent bags.
  • Non-compostable items were placed in the green bin.
  • Recycling materials were not placed inside the blue box or were jammed too tight.
  • Parked vehicles or overgrown vegetation blocked the curb.

If you see a tag, fix the problem and place your bins out again on the next scheduled collection day. You do not need to submit a missed pickup request for a tagged bin.

2. Check for community service alerts

Sometimes weather, road construction, or equipment breakdowns delay collection crews. Check the Service Alerts page to see if your neighbourhood is affected. If your area is listed, crews will return to collect your bins later that day or the following day.

3. Submit a service request

If your bins were set out correctly, were not tagged, and your area is not listed on the alerts page, you may have been missed. Please submit a service request through the Service Wrenford online portal or by calling 311.

When you submit the request, please have the following ready:

  • Your full street address.
  • The type of bin that was missed (garbage, blue box, or green bin).
  • A brief description of the issue.

A waste management coordinator will review your request and contact you by email within two business days. If the collection crew missed your home, they will schedule a return visit. Please ensure your bins are ready for the new collection date.

What happens next?

Once your bins are collected, please keep them out until the next scheduled date. If you need to dispose of items that cannot go in your curbside bins, visit the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility or check the Check holiday facility hours page for seasonal drop-off times.
