Public engagement opportunities

Learn how to share your feedback on City projects, speak at council meetings, and join local consultations.

How to share your voice with the City

Public engagement is how you help shape decisions about parks, roads, transit, and community programmes in Wrenford. When the City asks for your input, it is because your feedback matters. We use surveys, open houses, public meetings, and online forms to make sure we hear from as many neighbours as possible.

Public commentary at council meetings

Residents can speak directly to City Council during the public commentary portion of regular meetings. You do not need to pre-register. Just show up at City Hall on the day of the meeting and sign the registry at the public entrance. You will have up to five minutes to speak. The chair may end your comments if they go off-topic or are not respectful. Regular meetings are held on the second and fourth Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Wrenford City Hall.

Formal presentations to Council

If you or a group want to make a longer, structured presentation, you can request a formal slot. These presentations can last up to fifteen minutes and include a short question period. To book a time, send a request to the City Clerk's Office at [email protected] or use the presentation request form online. The Clerk's Office will confirm your date and time. Please bring any handouts or visual aids with you.

Surveys and consultations

The City runs targeted consultations throughout the year. For example, we ask for feedback on draft capital projects in August before council approves the four-year plan in September. You will also see surveys about street sweeping schedules, park improvements, and recreation programming. You can take part online, by phone at 311, or by mail at P.O. Box 1234, Station Main, Wrenford, ON N4Q 1A1.

Public meetings and open houses

When a major project affects a neighbourhood, staff will host an open house. These usually take place at a local facility like the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre or the Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre. Dates and locations are posted on the Public Notices page and in the Wrenford 311 app. You can also sign up for Wrenford Alerts to get email or text updates about upcoming meetings in your area.

Rules for participation

All public engagement follows the Procedure By-law 2023-018. Comments must be respectful and relevant to the topic. If you need accommodation to take part, please contact the Accessibility Coordinator at 519-555-0142 or [email protected] at least five business days before the meeting. The City will make every effort to provide accessible meeting spaces, interpreters, or large-print materials.

Need help getting involved?

If you have questions about how to submit feedback or want to join a planning committee, call 311 or email [email protected]. You can also ask to apply for a Neighbourhood Visioning Grant to host a local planning workshop.
