About this funding
We provide funding for Indigenous community organizations and projects in Wrenford. This program helps groups that serve Indigenous residents in our city. We want to make sure you have the resources to run cultural programs, wellness initiatives, and community events.
The City of Wrenford acknowledges that we live, work and gather on the traditional territories of Indigenous peoples who have cared for this land for generations, and we commit to learning and to reconciliation.
Who can apply
You can apply if your organization is registered in Ontario and operates in Wrenford. Both Indigenous-led and non-Indigenous-led groups are welcome. If your group is not Indigenous-led, we will look for a clear history of working with Indigenous partners and a plan that centres Indigenous voices.
Your project must directly benefit Indigenous residents in Wrenford. One-time events are not eligible. We fund ongoing programs and operational costs that run for at least 12 months.
How the money can be used
Grants are awarded for a two-year cycle. You can request funding for one or two years. Funds can cover:
- Staff salaries and Elders' or Knowledge Keepers' honoraria
- Rent and utilities for community spaces
- Cultural materials, traditional medicines, and program supplies
- Facility upgrades that improve accessibility or safety
- Outreach and community engagement activities
We do not fund political campaigning, religious proselytizing, or for-profit ventures.
Application details
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Our team reviews submissions every quarter (March, June, September, and December). You will hear back within six weeks of the review date.
The maximum grant amount is $20,000 per year. You must provide a matching contribution from other sources, such as provincial grants, private donations, or in-kind support. The match must be at least 25 per cent of your total project budget.
To apply, visit the apply online. If you need help with the form or want to discuss your idea first, contact our community partnerships team.
Reporting requirements
Once your project starts, you will submit a brief progress report every six months. At the end of your funding period, you will share a final report with a budget summary and a short story about how the community benefited. We provide a simple template when your grant is approved.
