Why save water?
Using less water saves you money on your monthly bill and helps protect the Tamsin River for future generations. The City of Wrenford updated its Water Conservation and Efficiency Plan to manage water demand, keep our supply reliable, and delay the need for costly new infrastructure. By using water wisely, we all help the city grow responsibly.
Save water in your home
The average person in Wrenford uses seven cubic metres (7,000 litres) of water each month. Most of that goes to the toilet, shower, washing machine, and dishwasher. Small changes can make a big difference. Fixing a leaky faucet, running full loads in the laundry, and using low-flow fixtures can cut your usage quickly. For detailed steps, visit our Saving water in your home guide.
Save water in your yard and garden
A healthy landscape does not need constant watering. Use mulch around plants to lock in moisture, and choose drought-tolerant species that thrive in our soil. If you need to water, do it early in the morning to reduce evaporation. During dry spells, we may ask everyone to follow outdoor watering restrictions.
We also offer rebates for installing rain barrels and water-efficient appliances. Check the list of eligible products to see what qualifies.
Save water in your business
Businesses can lower operating costs and show environmental leadership by tracking water use. The City provides free water audits for eligible commercial and industrial properties. Audits identify leaks, check fixture efficiency, and recommend upgrades. For more on managing wastewater and meeting discharge standards, see managing wastewater for businesses.
