Why you need a valid fare
When you ride Wrenford Transit or Wrenford Access, you must have a valid ticket, permit, or pass. This rule applies to everyone aged 13 years and older. Fares help keep our service affordable while covering the costs of running buses, maintaining vehicles, and paying staff. Your fare also supports system improvements that keep pace with our growing community.
How to pay and ride
You have several ways to pay for your trip. You can use cash for a single-ride ticket, buy a monthly or annual pass, or use the Wrenford Transit app to purchase mobile tickets. If you need to switch between bus routes or use a combination of services, ask your driver for a transfer. A paper or digital transfer is valid for 90 minutes from the time it is issued. Always keep your ticket or pass with you for the entire trip. Learn more on the Transit fares and passes page.
Checking your fare
Transit peace officers and Wrenford Transit staff may ask to see your fare when you board a bus or when you are inside a fare-restricted area. If you bought a mobile ticket through the app, you must open it and scan it against the bus validator when you board. If the validator is not working, show your ticket clearly on your phone screen for the driver or officer to inspect. Officers use hand-held devices to confirm that your digital ticket is active and valid. You must keep your phone charged and your ticket visible until you reach your stop.
Fines and enforcement
Failing to show a valid fare when asked breaks municipal by-law. If you cannot produce a valid ticket or pass upon request, you will receive a violation ticket with a fine of $250.00. This fine is set under the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075. You can pay your fine online or in person. If a fine goes unpaid, the City will send it to Ontario Registries for collection. This can add extra fees and affect your credit rating.
