Request a winter service vehicle timing

Learn how to request a change to the timing of snow plows and sanding trucks on your street before or during the winter season.

Why you might need a timing change

Winter service vehicles clear your street as part of the Winter Sector plowing schedule. The City divides Wrenford into six plowing zones to make sure residential streets are cleared within 48 hours of an 8 cm snowfall. Sometimes, the standard plow timing does not work for your schedule. You might need a timing change if you work night shifts, have early morning medical appointments, or care for a mobility-challenged family member who needs to leave the house before the crews arrive.

When to submit your request

You can request a timing change at two different times:

  • Before the season starts: Submit your request by 14 days before the winter season begins. Staff will review all requests during the spring and summer review period and finalize adjustments by October.
  • During the season: If your circumstances change, you can ask for a temporary adjustment. Please allow 7 to 10 business days for staff to review your request and update the route schedule.

How to submit your request

Send your request to the Roads & Winter Maintenance team. Include your full street address, your current plow timing, the timing you need, and a brief reason for the change. You can reach us by email, phone, or in person:

  • Email: [email protected]
  • Phone: 519-555-0112
  • In person: Civic Operations Centre, 455 Railside Road, Wrenford, ON N4Q 3K7

What happens during the review

Staff will review your request based on safety, route efficiency, and the Winter Route Adjustment Programme. We cannot guarantee a specific time of day, but we will shift your street's sequence to better match your needs. Once approved, you will receive a confirmation email. If a request is not approved, staff will explain why and suggest alternative options, such as moving your vehicle to an alternate route during clearing.

Important rules to know

Timing changes work alongside the Winter Maintenance and Parking By-law 2020-097. Keep these points in mind:

  • The overnight on-street parking ban runs from December 1 to March 31, between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. You must move your vehicle even if your timing is adjusted.
  • Residential streets are only plowed after substantial snowfall. Main roads are cleared first at 5 cm of snow; residential streets follow at 8 cm.
  • Plows must maintain clear sightlines at intersections and driveways. Adjusted timing does not change these safety requirements.
