Request a new traffic signal

Learn how to request a new traffic signal or left turn arrow for an intersection in Wrenford and what factors the Traffic Signal Assessment Team considers.

Request a new traffic signal or left turn arrow

If you believe an intersection in Wrenford is unsafe or too busy, you can ask for a new traffic signal or a left turn arrow. Our Traffic Signal Assessment Team reviews every request using a standard warrant study.

How the warrant study works

The team looks at traffic volumes, collision history, and pedestrian activity. They score the findings to decide if a signal is needed.

  • 100 or higher: A traffic signal is warranted.
  • 80 to 99: A signal is not warranted at this time. The intersection is placed on a watch list, and the study is repeated each year.
  • 79 or lower: A signal is not warranted. We will not repeat the study for at least two years unless conditions change.

You can check to see if a warrant study has already been done at a specific intersection before submitting a request.

Left turn arrow requests

Left turn signals are installed only when turning vehicles are consistently delayed for one or two cycles, or when collision history shows a need. Adding a left turn arrow can sometimes add to congestion for through traffic, so the team carefully reviews each request.

Report a damaged or malfunctioning signal

If a traffic signal is broken, flashing when it shouldn't, or not working at all, please report it. Drivers must treat a flashing red light as a stop sign and a flashing amber light as a yield.
